About the event

Tank Stream Labs is proud to present this event as part of the City of Sydney’s Visiting Entrepreneur Program 2021

Ever wondered what biotech is and how it’s applied to real life scenarios? Our expert panel will discuss this and more. Join us to hear about:

  • real life applications and examples of current biotech developments
  • future use and the importance of development in biotech
  • the importance of a materials supply chain in biotechnology
  • the history of this sector: diversity, recruitment, and challenges

Our panellists include a deep tech accelerator founder, an internationally recognised expert in forward-thinking breakthroughs in Nanotechnology, a research and commercialisation specialist, and a startup that is creating real meat from cells in six weeks! Definitely not one you want to miss.

Laura Faulconer, Associate Partner, Antler

Laura leads the process of providing post-investment support and resource allocation to enable portfolio company and fund success. Prior to Antler, Laura has founded several successful Australian and international deep tech accelerator programs and has been on investment and portfolio teams in early-stage venture capital.

Dr Mohammad Choucair, CEO, Archer

Dr Choucair is leading Archer to develop and commercialise disruptive deep tech including quantum computing. Mohammad served a 2-year mandate at the World Economic Forum on the Global Council for Advanced Materials and is internationally recognised for his forward-thinking breakthroughs in Nanotechnology.

Stephen Lam, Commercial Theme Leader, University of Sydney

Stephen is passionate about research translation and creating impact through the commercialisation of innovative intellectual property. Stephen leads the Science portfolio within the commercialisation team at the University of Sydney and have successfully developed a diverse portfolio of early stage technologies into commercially viable outcomes and facilitated partnerships with start-ups, companies, government and peak bodies.”

George Peppou, CEO & Founder, Vow

Co-founder and CEO of Vow. At Vow, our approach isn’t to produce the meats we know. We are focused on using cultured meat technology to craft an entirely new category of food. Cultured meat, unlike animal agriculture, isn’t limited to the animals that grow fast and breed well in captivity. In fact, any animal with cells is now on the menu.

Tank Stream Labs is a technology focused co-working space. We are a leading breeding ground for entrepreneurs, specialised industry leaders, and scale ups. We are a dynamic community that supports innovation, collaboration, brilliance, excellence, and entrepreneurship and exist to support the growth and innovation of the startup ecosystem.

Antler is a global early-stage venture capital platform that enables exceptional people and teams to build the defining companies of tomorrow from Australia.

The platform is aimed at supporting startups from inception, starting with team formation and business model validation, through to providing an unmatched capital pathway. Antler invests at the pre-seed stage and looks to continue investing through Series C, building relationships with its portfolio companies as a long-term partner and supporter. This is particularly evident in Antler's local portfolio growth over the last two years, having invested in 40+ companies.

Antler is currently recruiting its fifth Australia cohort, which will take place across Sydney and Melbourne in June. Find out more about the platform, or how to apply here.
