Position: Events and Partnerships Manager

Type: Full Time (12 Month Maternity cover)

Tank Stream Labs is looking for a talented and passionate individual to join our dedicated team for a 12-month full-time maternity leave cover. We’re seeking someone to lead our events business and manage all partnerships across our NSW locations. You’ll have the opportunity to take full ownership of Tank Stream Events and continue developing it into a financially viable business operation. This position combines partner engagement, project management, networking, business strategy, content development, and overall leadership of the events function.
 

Our events focus on timely and relevant themes including startup journeys, innovation, and emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning, blockchain, augmented reality, fintech, and more.
 

Events and partnerships are core drivers of our business growth. You’ll be responsible for independently managing and developing all aspects of Tank Stream Events, ensuring its continued success and profitability throughout the 12-month period.
 

Working as part of a small, collaborative team and reporting directly to the Chief Commercial Officer, this role will be based across all Tank Stream Labs locations in NSW. You’ll play a key role in community engagement and day-to-day operations, providing on-the-ground support and building meaningful relationships with our members.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
 

Head a business unit within Tank Stream Labs with complete independent responsibility and accountability for the business performance. The main responsibilities include:

 

• Sales of event services to external clients. These include but are not limited to Event project management, design, planning and delivery of events.

• Sales of Event spaces, Board rooms and meetings rooms within Tank Stream Labs offices to external clients

• Responsible for managing the business budget

• Responsible for the delivery and operations of external events hosted at Tank Stream Labs. This includes coordinating and project management of operations for all events: 

  • Create event briefs, run sheets, schedules, etc.

  • Set up event spaces

  • Ensure the event runs smoothly and assist with any technical issues.

  • Ensure events run according to WHS.

  • Analyse the event’s success and prepare reports.

  • Research opportunities for new clients and events. 

• Organise catering, beverages and specific event requirements. Source and negotiate with venues, caterers and other suppliers. 

• Responsible for organising and executing Tank Stream Labs Startup to Scale up Summit. These high level responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with CEO on delivering the Summit

  • Sourcing a suitable venue

  • Developing the budget

  • Sourcing speakers

  • Sourcing sponsors 

  • Build community partnerships 

  • Promotion and marketing initiatives to sell tickets to attendees

 

• Manage relationships with key partners at Tank Stream Labs. This includes large Global corporate partners, Australian corporate partners and local event partners. 

  • Establish strong, loyal and long lasting relationships 

  • Organise events to promote to their branding.

  • Negotiate commercial outcomes.

  • Source new partners

• Lead promotional activities for the event: 

  • Create marketing material and promote events through social media, websites and newsletters.

  • Secure event sponsorships.

• Help build relationships for Tank Stream Labs through actively networking with members, attendees to events, caterers, other event managers, corporate partners, etc. Actively connect people that have similar business ideas, work on similar fields, etc.
   

Skills:
 

• Excellent networking, communication and social skills. 

• Passion for start-ups, innovation and technology. 

• Proven experience in events, hospitality or project management.

• Previous sales experience and confidence to engage with new customers

• Ability to work outside traditional work hours as events are hosted in mornings or evenings.

• Ability to work in a high-energy environment, ambitious, strong work ethic, open to new ideas.

• Able to manage multiple projects and programs, excellent problem solving skills, strong ability to prioritise, solve problems and be resourceful under pressure.

• Be able to ‘think outside the box’ for new ideas and concepts for events.
